Privacy and cookies
What this site does and does not do with your information. Short version: the pay and tax calculators never see your figures, we keep nothing you paste into the CV checker, and we store nothing about you.
Your salary and tax figures never leave your browser
This is the part worth saying first, because it is unusual and it is the thing people worry about. Every pay and tax calculation on this site runs in your own browser. What you earn, your tax code, your pension, your student loan: none of it is sent to us, none of it is logged, and none of it is stored. We could not read it if we wanted to.
You can check that yourself. Open your browser's developer tools, go to the network tab, and open the take-home pay calculator or any other calculator here. You will see no request carrying your figures, because there is no server here to send them to. The whole site is static files, with one exception, described next.
The CV checker is the one exception
The CV checker has to send the text you paste somewhere, because the judgment is made by a model rather than by arithmetic in your browser. The page says so above the box. Here is exactly what happens:
- The text goes to a server on this domain (a Cloudflare Worker at
/api/cv-check), which forwards it once to TypeSafe AI and returns a set of numbers. That server keeps nothing and logs only status codes. - We never see it. There is no database, no file and no email; the text exists in memory for the length of the request and is gone.
- TypeSafe processes it as our processor under their data processing agreement. Their privacy policy says they will not train or fine-tune models on what you send. They do keep it for a time: the policy says data is retained for as long as they consider reasonably necessary. That is the main reason to take your address out.
- The four checks that can be done by counting (length, contact details, links, spelling) run in your browser before anything is sent.
A CV is personal data, and some of it you do not need to send. Remove your home address before pasting; the checker does not look at it. Wagepage is the data controller for this processing, and the lawful basis is your request: the text is only sent when you press the button.
Cookies
Advertising
There is none. This site carries no advertising and sets no advertising cookies. If that changes, this page will change with it and you will be asked before any cookie is set.
What we do not use
No analytics. No Google Analytics, no tracking pixels, no session recording, no fingerprinting, no advertising cookies of our own. No accounts, so no passwords and no email lists.
Information handled by others
Three suppliers see some of your information. Cloudflare and 20i see the technical details any website visit produces; TypeSafe sees only what you send to the CV checker.
- Cloudflare delivers the site and protects it from attack. It processes your IP address and basic request details to do that. It also runs the CV checker's server, so the text you paste passes through it on the way to TypeSafe.
- 20i hosts the files. Standard server logs record IP addresses and requested pages.
- TypeSafe AI receives the text you paste into the CV checker, and only that, only when you press the button. It does not train on it, and keeps it for a time under its own retention terms.
None of them receives anything you type into a calculator, because that never leaves your device.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask what personal data an organisation holds about you, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. In our case the honest answer is that we hold none: there are no accounts, no analytics and no database. We do not keep what you paste into the CV checker, so we have nothing to delete. TypeSafe may still hold a copy under its own retention terms, and a deletion request for that goes to them.
There is no advertising data, because there is no advertising. Technical logs are held by our suppliers under their own policies and are not used to identify anyone.
